West Wittering is an interesting place to sail, offering both flat-water and waves, but you need to be a member of WWWC to windsurf there during the summer months (Kitesurfers must be members to sail at ANY time of the year). Ample car parking is available right next to the beach, as is a dedicated grass rigging area. The car-park gets VERY busy though, even over the winter.
Flat Water: YES (Lagoon at
low tide) Car parking : YES (£2 -
£4) Nearest Shop : 2XS Wind information can be found
here. The sandbanks and the low-tide lagoon (the dark patch of sea) can be clearly seen in the aerial photo. These give the beach its unique ability to provide conditions suitable for beginners through to experts depending on the state of the tide. See the West Wittering Windsurfing Club site (WWWC) for further information. |
The photos below should give an idea of the range of conditions found at this location. The larger images (click the thumbnails to open) have a description of the conditions at the time the shot was taken. If you've got any good photos that you'd like to see here then email the site and I'll add them on if possible.
